Maria-Elena is an associate in the intellectual property (IP) and disputes teams. She assists with various contentious and non-contentious matters, including design rights, trade mark infringement and passing off, copyright infringement, defamation, breach of contract and commercial and patent disputes.
She is known for her representation of SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) across all business sectors. Her IP litigation and commercial litigation expertise involves managing IP disputes from the pre-action stage right through to litigation reaching the High Court or Intellectual Property Enterprise Court (IPEC).
Maria-Elena is commercially minded and client-focused, committed to finding the most cost-effective solution for every client. Her experience of working with a wide variety of entrepreneurs in numerous business sectors has given her an in-depth understanding of the challenges that start-up companies face when it comes to the protection and exploitation of their IP.
Maria-Elena has been at Waterfront since April 2021. She is a member of IPSoc – the society for junior IP practitioners – and the UK Centre for Animal Law.
